One advice that many marketing gurus around the world say is, sex sells. It certainly turned out to be true. A popular London-based video subscription company has taken down the NBA. Stephen Curry and LeBron James-led league is one of the richest leagues on the planet. And of course, the superstars of the league wallow in wealth. However, the times seemed to have changed, as OnlyFans creators soared past the NBA.
By now, we have made it clear that the OnlyFans creators as a whole, for a fact, have earned more than the NBA players. The adult platform came to the center stage during the pandemic. Apart from ‘Dalgona coffee’, the whipped coffee trend, OnlyFans became popular among the public. And within 4 years, it turned out to be a blowout success story. It achieved something that the 77-year-old NBA couldn’t achieve.
While the platform witnessed a steady rise in its growth every year, the year 2023 turned out to be an epic score fest. Compared to the $5.5 billion revenue in 2022, the creators added another billion in the following year and recorded a whopping $6.6 billion fee from the fans. That’s an earth-shattering growth of 19% in a single year. Meanwhile, on the other end, the biggest basketball league in the world is shy of a meager value of $1.6 billion.

Do you think NBA players deserve to earn more than OnlyFans creators?
Absolutely
Depends on the player
Who cares?
Over the last few days, there were so many claims stating that the OnlyFans creators earn more than NBA players doing rounds on the internet. It only left us to fact-check the claim and provide you with accurate information. So, according to Variety, it’s true that the adult platforms’ creators have collected a record-breaking fee of $6.6 billion in the year 2023.
Now, moving on to the NBA world, according to Hoopshype, the total payroll of NBA players for the 2023-24 season is $5.02 billion. And, looking at the projected salaries until the 2027-28 season, the NBA doesn’t seem to go beyond $6 billion. Contrastingly, OnlyFans has had an upward graph where the number of content creators and fans is increasing steadily.
A report stated that the platform saw a whopping rise of 28% in subscribers last year, with 305 million total fans logging into the website. Similarly, the website saw an increase in the number of creators as well. As of 2023, there are 4.1 million creators in the business. This is where we have to get technical.

The answer to the question will, be negative. Usually, the NBA will feature less than 500 players in a season. However, the numbers seemed to have increased after the introduction of the ‘Two-way contract’. So, roughly there are about 550 players playing in a single season. In that sense, the average annual salary for the 2023-24 season comes up to $9.7 million per player.
Whereas, in the case of OnlyFans with 4.1 million creators, the average salary per creator would come up to $1,600. Well, technically, each NBA player earns more than an individual creator. However, there are fair chances that some creator may earn much more, considering their popularity. Notably, one of the creators, Bryce Adams, who has a 10-acre property especially to run her show, said, “People don’t understand the scale of the opportunity. I mean, really: You can make your own world,” in an interview with the Washington Post.
Nevertheless, the average salary of an NBA player is certainly more than an OnlyFans adult creator. So, the bottom line is, that the NBA players still earn more than the creators.
