- Alexandra Ianculescu was in 500m speed skating at the 2018 Winter Olympics
- The Romanian has now turned her focus to the content subscription platform
- She joins long list of OnlyFans athletes such as Elise Christie and Alysha Newman
Olympic star Alexandra Ianculescu has revealed why she bares all on content subscription platform OnlyFans, claiming that the career move has ‘changed her life completely for the better’.
The Romanian, who is based in Calgary, Canada, took part in the women’s 500m speed skating at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
She has since switched sports and taken up road and track cycling as she aims to make a second appearance at the Games.
But her primary focus seems to be selling photos of herself on Only Fans as she balances a budding career on the platform with her longer-term goal of being among the medals in Los Angeles in 2028.
Now Ianculescu has shed light on why she decided to join the growing group of athletes treating fans to exclusive insights on the subscription service.
She said on Instagram, where she also posts racy pictures to her 320,000 followers: ‘Why OnlyFans? I thought it would be appropriate to share this post again since I get asked about it all the time.
‘Let’s start with some negative aspects. The thing is that the world will always judge you, no matter what you do.
‘Regardless of the topic, you are either too much or too little, too fat or too thin, too weird or boring. Fortunately, I found out at a very young age that I will always do things my way.’
Ianculescu insisted that instead of hindering her new sporting ambitions her OnlyFans journey actually facilitates it.
‘In 2021, I decided to open this account because I kept getting so many “likes” on bikini photos and people were suggesting that I sell them on this platform,’ she said. ‘I thought it was the biggest joke.
‘I didn’t want to be seen as someone who was known for selling ‘bikini photos’ considering that I have worked so hard as an athlete, worked hard for my education, speak multiple languages and really love the image of myself that I have created and respected.
‘My life changed completely for the better after my first month there.
‘I now enjoy training full-time, being able to afford the equipment I need, my dream bikes, saving for other goals in life and being able to enjoy it in a way where I don’t have to sacrifice my sporting life to have three part-time jobs like I used to do while chasing my Olympic dreams.’
The Romanian-Canadian is by no means the only sporting star with designs on Olympic gold who has turned to Only Fans to make ends meet.
Former Team GB skating star Elise Christie, 33, won ten golds at the European Championships and three at the Worlds but has found a new, happy life as a mother and OnlyFans star. She charges £7-a-month for her exclusive content.
Meanwhile, Canadian Olympian pole vaulter Alysha Newman, 30, delights supporters with insights into her life on OnlyFans, charging £10-a-month for a subscription.
And Australia’s London-born basketball star Liz Cambage, an Olympic bronze medalist in 2012, has claimed a coach can earn four times more than the highest-paid players and has now turned her attention to OnlyFans.
