AT FIRST, THE SECURITY GUARD TOLD POLICE HE HEARD THE GUNSHOT AND RESPONDED TO THE SCENE. NOW THAT SECURITY GUARD HAS BEEN ARRESTED FOR FIRST-DEGREE MURDER. POLICE WERE ABLE TO INVESTIGATE AND LEARN THE NAME OF A SUSPECT. NEW COURT DOCUMENTS SHED LIGHT ON THE MOMENTS BEFORE A MAN WAS SHOT AND KILLED. AT THIS APARTMENT COMPLEX OFF MINNIE LANE ON FRIDAY, POLICE FOUND 45 YEAR OLD MICHAEL JOSEPH WATERS DEAD IN THE PARKING LOT. REPORTS OF GUNFIRE HAD COME IN 911. CALLS WERE MADE, ACCORDING TO THE AFFIDAVIT. DETECTIVES INTERVIEWED A SECURITY GUARD WHO TOLD THEM HE DIDN’T KNOW THE VICTIM JUST HEARD THE SHOT AND DROVE TO HELP. HE WAS LATER RELEASED, BUT DETECTIVES BEGAN SEARCHING FOR THE VICTIM’S MISSING PHONE AND FOUND A DISCARDED OFF I-240 AND SOONER ROAD, 17 MILES AWAY FROM THE CRIME SCENE. ON THE PHONE WERE TEXTS AND CALLS BETWEEN THE SECURITY GUARD AND VICTIM, ACCORDING TO COURT DOCUMENTS. INVESTIGATORS SAY THE SUSPECT THEN ADMITTED TO KNOWING WATERS, TELLING POLICE THE VICTIM HAD PURCHASED CONTENT FROM HIS PAGE ON AN ADULT WEBSITE CALLED ONLYFANS. THE SECURITY GUARD SAYS WATERS BECAME OBSESSED WITH HIM, CALLING HIM OVER AND OVER UNTIL HE FINALLY AGREED TO PICK HIM UP. THAT’S WHEN THE SUSPECT CLAIMS WATERS MADE AN UNWANTED SEXUAL ADVANCE, BUT HE BRUSHED IT OFF AND BEGAN HIS SECURITY ROUNDS WITH THE VICTIM. BUT THE SECURITY GUARD SAYS HE DIDN’T KILL HIM. HE TOLD POLICE THE VICTIM HAD GOTTEN OUT OF HIS CAR AND WAS CHASING AN UNKNOWN RANDOM MALE FOR AN UNKNOWN REASON. WHEN HE HEARD THE SHOT.
