The west and southern regions of the U.S. dominate a top ten list of states with the most OnlyFans creators, according to new data shared with Newsweek.

OnlyFans, a platform primarily known for adult content but also used for other creator-driven material, has seen significant growth in recent years. Research by BedBible collected profile information from all available accounts in the U.S. and ranked creators per 100,000 of the population. The sexual-wellness platform also analyzed estimated income of OnlyFans creators.

Newsweek has mapped out the states with the most and least OnlyFans creators below.

Which States Have the Most Creators?

Nevada tops the list as the state with the most OnlyFans content creators, with 31.46 creators per 100,000 people, according to BedBible’s research.

Though not a state, Washington, D.C. came in second, with 21.73 creators per 100,000 people.

The nation’s capital was followed by Florida, Colorado, California and Oregon. Other states in the top 10 include Texas, Arizona and Alaska.

“The states with a high number of OnlyFans creators are states where there are limited employment opportunities and [it] allows people to tap into alternative sources of potential income,” said Kimberly Kay Hoang, a professor in sociology at the University of Chicago, in an email to Newsweek.

Washington, D.C. and Nevada have the highest levels of unemployment in the U.S., according to the most recent seasonally adjusted data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. California and Alaska also saw unemployment rates above the national average.

“Digital infrastructure is crucial for helping people to feel socially connected but to be part of a tech economy, as manufacturing and service sector jobs are both on decline and less desirable forms of work,” Hoang said.

Notably, a portion of the creators, 616 in total, were labeled as “unknown” locations, showing that not all creators’ origins are fully accounted for.

Methodology

The methodology for Bebdible’s OnlyFans study involved collecting profile information from all available accounts in the United States. For each city and state, the total number of accounts, likes, estimated income, and median income were summed up.

Estimated income was calculated by multiplying the subscription price by the number of subscribers, although this figure only provides a directional indication rather than an exact income. The median income was determined for non-free accounts. In cases where creators listed multiple locations, their income and account count were evenly distributed across the locations. States and cities were then ranked on these metrics.

“The primary issue with studies on this platform is that any kind of big data relies on propriety access to that data,” Hoang said. “It makes it challenging to replicate and fact check.”

Highest Paid Content Creators on OnlyFans

While many content creators are active on OnlyFans, only a few have achieved significant financial success.

According to Bedbible’s recent analysis of OnlyFans earnings, Bhad Bhabie, an American rapper, leads as the highest-paid creator, with earnings reportedly reaching $59 million. Her highest monthly earnings topped $3.5 million.

Cardi B and Blac Chyna are also major earners, having made $47 million and $39 million, respectively, on the platform.

Bella Thorne was reported to have earned $37 million in total, though some sources challenge the accuracy of her reported monthly income.

The top 0.1 percent of creators command 87 percent of the total revenue on the platform, according to BedBible.

The vast majority of creators make considerably less, with the average creator earning approximately $2,647 in total over the course of their time on the platform. The data illustrates the stark difference between the elite top earners and the broader creator base.

While OnlyFans is attractive for those hoping to achieve financial success, the data reflects that only a small fraction of creators enjoy the platform’s top financial rewards.
