The woman who went viral for using the onomatopoeia “hawk tuah” to describe the intimate act that makes “a man go crazy in bed” has addressed the demand for her to open an OnlyFans account.
Haliey Welch became an online hit after she was asked a question in the street by Tim & Dee TV—two YouTubers who conduct street interviews—about her sex life. The clip of her answer went viral and turned Welch and the term “hawk tuah” into a meme.
At the time of writing, Tim and Dee’s video, titled “Hawk Tuah Girl Original Video” has been viewed over 3.8 million times on YouTube. Clips from it have also been posted to TikTok, where it has been shared numerous times and received millions of views.
In the wake of her online fame, Welch has hired a manager and a lawyer and launched an Instagram account. In a video uploaded on July 3, she revealed the ways in which her life has changed since going viral and spoke about requests she receives for a link to her OnlyFans account, saying she does not have one and never will. At the time of writing, her post had been played more than 7.6 million times.
Newsweek emailed a spokesperson for Welch for comment on Thursday.
“Stop asking me for the link in bio for my OnlyFans. I don’t have an OnlyFans and there will never be an OnlyFans. I just—I just make funny jokes, that’s all I do,” she said in the video posted to her handle @hay_welch.
Welch also revealed the “three awesome things” that have changed in her life so far.
“Number one, I got over my stage fright. I sang in front of 80,000 people with Zach Bryan the other night—and I cannot sing for s***. But I did it anyway,” she said.
“Number two, I quit my job at the spring factory, so I don’t have to eat Taco Bell all the time but I’m still going to do it anyways. Number three, I actually have to get ready more than one time out of the week now, I’m not allowed to look like Adam Sandler anymore.”
While Welch said there have been positives, she said it hasn’t “all been delightful,” which includes people asking her to join OnlyFans.
“I have to convince my papa not to shoot the paparazzi outside of our house every day. Because they’ve been camped out here for like two weeks,” she explained.
Welch also said that she is tired of people pretending to be her online, as well as those who are selling their own “hawk tuah” merchandise on the internet.
She added: “Any of you selling or purchasing merchandise online, it’s not from me. It’s not approved by me, it’s counterfeit—and I’m not making a damn dime off of it. But, I just hired a manager and I hired an attorney, so we’re coming for you b******.
“But don’t worry, I’m launching my merch store very soon and you’ll be the first to know where to get your official ‘hawk tuah’ merch, from me.”
During a previous interview with Brianna LaPaglia on the Plan Bri Uncut podcast, Welch said she had received “revolting” offers from fans who attempted to reach her through the man she has partnered with to create merchandise.
“So, the guy that does my hats, he got offered $600 three days ago for me to spit in a jar and sell it. That is revolting. That is just disgusting, is it not?” Welch said.
Elsewhere in the interview, the internet sensation said she doesn’t want to be referred to as the “hawk tuah girl” for the rest of her life.
