One of the newer disruptions in the job market comes from AI replacing roles traditionally held by humans, particularly in the realm of OnlyFans chatters according to WIRED. These chatters, gig workers paid to impersonate top OnlyFans creators in conversations with fans, are increasingly being replaced by AI-generated alternatives.

AI tools replace human chatters on OnlyFans platform

The appeal of OnlyFans lies in the direct engagement creators maintain with their supporters, often exchanging lengthy messages. However, as creators accumulate thousands of direct message (DM) conversations, the need for outsourcing becomes apparent. Previously, these chatters were typically contractors from lower-wage countries like the Philippines, Pakistan, and India. Now, AI chatters have begun to take over many of those roles, as startups enter the space with tools that can mimic human conversation.

Several startups, including ChatPersona, offer AI chatting services. Kunal Anand, the founder, states, “A lot of creators were like, hey, there’s a need.” Launched last year, ChatPersona has attracted around 6,000 customers, comprising both individuals and agencies. Anand claims that their service does not violate OnlyFans’ terms, as a human must manually send the AI’s generated messages. Although OnlyFans has previously prohibited AI chatbots, the current terms do not explicitly mention AI chatters.

AI girlfriends are reshaping our notions of modern relationships

The competitive landscape includes well-known tools with names such as FlirtFlow, ChatterCharms, and Botly. Another competitor, Supercreator, offers a comprehensive suite of AI solutions, encompassing AI-generated scripts and an “Inbox Copilot” feature that prioritizes spending customers.

Eden, a former OnlyFans creator turned agency operator named Heiss Talent, advocates for the technology, stating that the five creators she represents all utilize Supercreator’s tools. She notes, “It’s an insane increase in sales, because you can target people based on their spending.” One highlighted feature captures inactive fans when they log back onto the platform, triggering AI-generated messages that creators can then personalize. This strategy has yielded impressive results, including at least one $1,000 tip springing from AI-initiated discussions.

Despite the rise of fully automated AI chatting tools, Eden emphasizes the importance of human input. “We come up with the core of the message and the AI helps us fill it out,” she explains. Their focus remains on authenticity, which still resonates with fans.

The extent of this disruption is still being examined, and it remains unclear how these dynamics will evolve in the future.
