The platform has also been exploited by predators. In July, a Reuters report detailed 30 legal cases involving child sexual abuse material on the site. A spokesperson for OnlyFans reiterated its commitment to fighting misuse, saying the platform is “actively targeting, reporting, and supporting the prosecution of those who misuse the platform.”
Creators like Tana Mongeau and Hannah Palmer have faced serious safety threats. Tana, who earned $10 million in two years on OnlyFans, had to hire security after a man with knives appeared outside her home. Hannah, who made over $5 million, was terrified after receiving violent and sexual threats from an unknown individual, along with photos of her home’s interior.
Sophie Rain, 20, despite her financial success, warned others about the harsh reality of an OnlyFans career: “This career is not sunshine and rainbows 24/7, and if you don’t make it big, it will not be worth it,” she shared on social media in December. “Anyone who is doing it, I wish you all success, but please don’t quit your jobs for this.”
