A former executive at adult content business OnlyFans has joined the C-suite team at Oh, a recently launched startup offering intimate chats with AI-generated models.
Erika Coppel, who worked as the global head of creator experience and marketing at OnlyFans for over two years, will join the startup as its chief marketing officer, tasked with shaping the public perception of the VC-backed pornographic AI venture.
In her time at OnlyFans, Coppel was a leading figure in the development of the company’s creator programme which paid out an estimated $5bn in 2023 alone. Now Coppel will be working with Oh to disrupt the adult creator market cornered by her former employer.
Oh launched in 2022 with its flagship product being OhChat, a platform for users to pay to have “uncensored” conversations with AI recreations of models whose real-life counterparts split the revenue with the company.
The company’s founder, Nic Young previously told UKTN that the offering of OhChat allowed for the benefits of personalised content at a significantly cheaper price point than OnlyFans.
According to Oh, Coppel has already been instrumental in the signing of prominent online creators and public figures to its roster of digitally twinned models, including Baywatch star Carmen Electra.
“I couldn’t be more thrilled to join this extraordinary team of visionary technologists revolutionising the future of creator and fan relationships,” Coppel said.
“This is a game-changer, and I am beyond excited to help propel this groundbreaking technology into the hands of creators everywhere. This is the future, and Oh is the incredible pioneer leading the way.”
Last month, Oh closed a £3.7m seed round featuring investments from Tangent, Kosmos Ventures, Big Brain Holdings, Bodhi Ventures and Tagus Capital.
“With the infinite scalability, personalization, and accessibility of creator-fan experiences enabled by AI, we have no doubt that it’s the future of the content creator industry. Oh is undoubtedly leading in developing the most sophisticated NSFW AI models available,” Young said.
“So to now bring Erika onboard, who is the leading figure in this space through her creation and leadership of the OnlyFans’ original creator program, means we’re in the prime position to truly lead this revolution.”
Launched in 2016, OnlyFans has become one of the UK’s most lucrative tech companies, pulling in $1.3bn in revenue in 2023.
