Computer crimes charges dropped against OnlyFans model Courtney Clenney, parents

MIAMI – Prosecutors dropped computer crimes charges against Courtney Clenney and her parents Thursday morning.

But the 28-year-old OnlyFans model remains accused of murder.

The Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office decided to drop the computer crimes charges brought against Clenney and her parents, Deborah and Kim Clenney.

The three were facing charges after prosecutors said they illegally accessed a laptop belonging to Christian Obumseli, who prosecutors say Courtney Clenney, then 25, killed in their apartment in Miami’s Edgewater neighborhood on April 3, 2022.

The computer was discovered after investigators searched their shared apartment.

Police say the access to the laptop happened months after the murder and did not find an indication that the laptop belonged to Clenney.

In a memo released by the state attorney’s office, it says in part the court found the statements made in all the text messages were covered by attorney-client privilege and excluded from use by the prosecutors.

Closeout memo:

The state attorney’s office said it remains focused on the murder case against Clenney. Clenney is expected back in court on Aug. 13.

A spokesperson for the state attorney’s office released a statement Thursday afternoon:

“Judge Laura Cruz found that prosecutors were unaware that attorney Frank Prieto represented Kim and Deborah Clenney since a retainer agreement hiring him was only produced after their arrest. Additionally, attorney Prieto never publicly indicated that he represented Kim and Deborah Clenney, only their daughter. A reading of the group texts by police investigators appeared to indicate the commission of a crime. This information, supplied to prosecutors, resulted in the criminal charge. Since Judge Cruz’s ruling that the information contained in all the text messages were covered by attorney-client privilege excluding them from use in the criminal case, the charge against each was nolle prossed.”
