The iconic Playboy magazine is coming out of a disastrous decade.
Once the premiere destination for adult content, the brand has been tarnished by scandal and overshadowed by the rise of OnlyFans and online pornography.
From the damning Secrets of Playboy series to the death of Hugh Hefner and a misguided ‘non-nude’ rebrand in 2015 that eventually led to the end of the print magazine, it’s been a rough ten years for Playboy.
However, Playboy is now in the early stages of a major comeback, beginning with the return of the magazine – complete with celebrity covers and nude centerfolds.
Along with beauty influencer Lori Harvey as the publication’s new cover girl, model Gillian Nation has been crowned the 2025 Playmate of the Year.
The blonde bombshell, 27, was born and raised in rural Montana, where she was homeschooled growing up.
For her raunchy Playboy shoot, Nation stripped down to lingerie – before going completely naked – in the cowgirl-themed pictorial.
Shot completely outdoors, Nation posed up a storm in a horse corral and seductively reclined on hay bales in her birthday suit.
Nation said that she had ‘no idea’ that she was even up for Playmate of the Year before being officially crowned by the publication.
‘Apparently everyone knew but me. I was the last one to know!’ she said.
Before stripping off for Playboy, Nation modeled for major brands like CoverGirl and Guess.
Nation was announced as Playmate of the Year at a star-studded Super Bowl party in New Orleans on Saturday.
She arrived in a $10 million diamond-studded Playboy Bunny costume designed and handcrafted by Kali Hawk, founder and creative director of H.CROWNE.
‘As PLAYBOY makes its highly anticipated return to print, it also marks the rise of a remarkable woman who was discovered during the nationwide Bunny search and who embodies beauty, confidence, and timeless allure,’ a press release shared with DailyMail.com announced.
‘Gillian Nation now joins the ranks of legendary Playmates, ushering in a new era of bold, empowered femininity.’
Meanwhile, beauty influencer Lori Harvey is on the cover of the first Playboy magazine issue in five years.
The 28-year-old, who is the daughter of Family Feud host Steve Harvey and Marjorie Elaine Harvey, flashed her cleavage as she wore mint green feathers over a silver bikini top in a shoot by Greg Swales.
The ‘reimagined’ version of the Playboy ‘promises an unforgettable mix of cutting-edge content, bold storytelling, and unparalleled cultural insight,’ per the official website.
‘This edition brings back everything that made Playboy a cultural icon while introducing a fresh perspective that resonates with today’s world.’
The magazine’s editor-in-chief, Mike Guy, interviewed Lori where she discussed ‘her personal journey, career, and what it means to be a modern icon.’
An additional interview for the new printed issue took place with comedian, Nikki Glaser – who recently hosted the 2025 Golden Globe Awards earlier this month.
Readers will have the chance to read about her ‘rise to stardom, her unfiltered approach to life, and what drives her comedic genius.’
