We’re living in the era of the side hustle with everyday folk finding multiple income streams as micro influencers or scaling entire businesses on resale platforms like Depop. One surprise winner of the side hustle economy? OnlyFans, a platform that has attracted an estimated 4.11 million creators since its launch in 2016. Now, Bop House creator Camilla Araujo has shared how much money people make on OnlyFans. And honestly? We can see why ex-Harry Potter stars are getting involved.

OnlyFans started with the innocent aim of connecting influencers, but the company’s popularity exploded during the covid-19 pandemic when adult content creators started using the platform to share nudes and homemade pornography. Some A-list names have joined the fray with celebrity OnlyFans accounts including Lily Allen, who shares feet pics for $10 and, creator houses like Bop House have formed.

Recently, Bop House content creator Camilla Araujo jumped on the Tan & Trish Moments podcast and gave us some insights into just how much money OnlyFans creators are making online and the number were… surprising.

What Is Bop House?

Bop House (which stands for Baddie On Point) is one of many OnlyFans content creator “homes” and was started by Sophie Rain and Aishah Sofey. The concept behind content creator houses is one part stage, one part cross marketing strategy. Content creators (allegedly) live together and their home becomes a set for their posts, and presumably, part of a fantasy. Meanwhile, they appear in and share each others posts, stir up drama for their fanbases and post to a central account with it’s own fan base.

It’s a similar strategy we’ve seen from other content creators in recent years including The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives cast whose marketing strategy was so effective it resulted in a TV series. Bop House itself has 1.3 million followers but the collective following of its members totals 33 million.

Recently, Camilla Araujo jumped on the Tana & Trish Moments podcast and while she fielded questions about dramas in the girl gang, she also threw around some numbers. While she didn’t break down all of the Bop House girls income, the figures were high. Araujo said she’s proud of what the group has achieved. “The girls are f*cking killing it, I love where the concept of BOP house is going. I love that we each make our own money and we are our own CEOs and we have a brain and make our own decisions and there’s no one saying we can’t.”

How Much Do People Make On Only Fans?

So where’s the ceiling on an OnlyFans income? If you’re a celebrity, it seems like the sky is the limit. Iggy Azalea has the most popular account on the platform and earns $13.67 million Australian a year. But, for many of its creators, the platform is far less lucrative. OnlyFans takes a 20 per cent cut of creator’s earnings; for many creatives, the platform is far less lucrative. Influencer insight website Influencer Marketing Hub estimated that OnlyFans creators make a relatively paltry $180 US monthly. As per Fortune, OnlyFans earned $658 million US pre-tax in 2023, given its growth we assume it’s worth significantly more today.
