Former state employee dismissed for OnlyFans account indemnified

The Baja California agency in charge of public employee healthcare services and pensions, Issstecali, has been ordered to pay just over 800,000 pesos, or about $40,000, in compensation to Jovanna Isabel Ortega Gómez. In 2023, the former employee filed a lawsuit against the institution after being fired for having an OnlyFans account.

La Cronica newspaper reported that that same year, Ortega Gómez argued in her labor lawsuit that her dismissal was unjustified following the leak of photos from her OnlyFans account.

“She filed a labor lawsuit against us, and indeed, on Friday, the labor trial concluded with an agreement through the institute’s legal department, allowing her to pursue severance pay,” stated Dagoberto Valdez, Issstecali’s General Director.

Valdez said then the agency will comply with the agreement set by the labor courts, and the corresponding payment would be made. However, he assured that Ortega Gómez’s dismissal was not due to her OnlyFans account, explaining that her position was only temporary.

“This doctor worked with us for a couple of months,” the director said. “She was part of a system we have in healthcare institutions, which we call a substitute, to cover for staff on vacation or dealing with incidents.”

Lawmakers request report on public safety expenditures

Members of the Public Expenditure Oversight Commission of the Baja California State Assembly, led by Chairwoman Alejandra Ang Hernández, approved a resolution to request Mexicali Comptroller Oscar Vega Marín submit a written report on the current status of the Business Alliance for Public Safety Trust.

Assemblywoman Ang emphasized that despite the important role of this public entity, the Oversight Commission identified significant errors and omissions in the financial information related to these funds during the audits conducted for fiscal years 2020, 2021, and 2022. The legislator mentioned that in September 2023, the Presidency of this legislative body issued a Parliamentary Agreement urging the Mayor of Mexicali to prepare and submit a written report on the status of the Business Alliance for Public Safety Trust; however, no response was received.

In February 2025, the Individual Audit Report for the fiscal year covering January 1 to December 31, 2023, was received from the Business Alliance Organization. The report indicated that there has been no progress in financial management, and the Public Accounts were only prepared late in May 2024.

Additionally, Assemblywoman Ang noted that in October 2023, the governing body of the Business Alliance indefinitely suspended its activities, and the audit by the ASEBC had not yet begun.

The lawmaker emphasized that from 2020 to the present, the entity has accumulated three Observation Sheets, 32 Promotions of Sanctioning Administrative Responsibility, and two Recommendations. These documents indicate a presumption of patrimonial damage and repeated non-compliance with regulations, highlighting that reliable financial, accounting, programmatic, budgetary, and administrative information has not been presented since 2020.
