Jack Laugher, Elise Christie and Tom Daley revealed that they use OnlyFans to make some extra money
New Delhi: Many popular Olympians are turning to Onlyfans, a subscription-based video-hosting service mainly used by pornographic creators, to stay connected to their supporters and, of course, to make some extra money with the sizzling side hustle.
Olympians Jack Laugher, Elise Christie and Tom Daley spoke about their accounts on OnlyFans and how they use the platform to rake in extra cash. Not just young athletes but even retired Olympians are also joining the subscription-based site.
He said, “Yes, I try and make extra money. Obviously, I’ve got something people want, and I’ll happily cash in on that. I’m a bit of a hustler, and I want a bit more money if I can [get it].”
Why Olympians Are Turning To OnlyFans
Jack Laugher explained that athletes are paid less due to which some consider a side hustle such as this one. Besides, the high costs of training and sustaining themselves pushes athletes to take to the side hustle.
“The funding [in diving] hasn’t changed. When I first went on [in 2011], it was £21,000 for the top eight in the world. And at the time, as a 16-year-old, I was buzzing. But I’m almost 30 now, I’m in the top three in the world, and it is £28,000 a year.”
Jack Laughter said he is charging $10 per month for access to his amorous content.
Laugher’s teammates Noah Williams, Daniel Goodfellow, and Matty Lee are all on the platform. Other athletes have also turned to OnlyFans due to the high expense of training and sustaining themselves in order to compete in the Olympics.
Laugher’s teammate, Tom Daley, told The Telegraph that in the lead-up to the Olympics, divers train for up to eight hours a day, six days a week. Due to the high costs of training and sustaining themselves, athletes have taken to the side hustle.
For $14.99 a month, Team Zealand rower Robbie Manson charges users access to “exclusive content that tastefully explores the boundaries, including artistic portrayals of nudity.” However, he cautions potential customers that the content does not feature “explicit sex acts.”
Notably, Tom Daley and Noah Williams, the British 10m synchronised diving duo, won their silvers at 2024 Paris Olympics on Monday. This was Daley’s fifth Olympic medal.
Elise Christie: ‘OnlyFans Saved My Life’
Team Great Britain short-track speed skater Elise Christie set up an OnlyFans account after she retired in 2021. She told The Telegraph that she joined the platform after she lost her house and was working three jobs to make her ends meet. Christie said she now uses the platform positively.
She said, “I went from being someone who won medals under a system to then having absolutely nothing and just being dropped out and left to understand life. I had lost my house and was working three jobs at the time. I’ve probably been on [OnlyFans] a year and a half or so now, and gradually over that time I learnt more about its uses and engagement,” she said.
“I was getting more comfortable about what it is and being open about it, as initially I was very closed off with it. ” [OnlyFans] brought me back from a really dark place, and I now use it positively.”
She tells her subscribers to “prepare to be teased, tantalised, and perhaps even a little surprised’ by her content on the site, which she promises is always ‘spontaneous and exhilarating”.
33-years-old Christie said OnlyFans has allowed her to earn a ‘stable’ and ‘reliable’ income.
“I would never have got to this place without OnlyFans, because working the three jobs, I just didn’t have a life. I had been left with no life basically from being this skater
Notably, Elise Christie has represented the country three times on the world’s biggest sporting stage. She is a ten times a European gold medallist. However, her hard times began when she crashed out of all three of her races at the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea and sustained an ankle injury which prevented her from qualifying for a 2022 bid in Beijing.
Other retired Olympians who are using OnlyFans include Canadian pole vaulter Alysha Newman, Canadian speed skater Alexandra Ianculescu, Australian basketballer Liz Cambage and Australian springboard diver Matthew Mitcham.
