Canadian athlete Alysha Newman’s celebration after clinching Olympic bronze led to a six-word response from a BBC commentator.
On Wednesday night, the pole vault event on the athletics schedule at the Paris Olympics came to a close with Australia’s Nina Kennedy winning the gold medal ahead of Katie Moon of Team USA.
Despite clearing the same height of 4.85m as Moon, Newman had to settle for the bronze due to the American taking fewer attempts.
After finishing in third place, Newman, who has an OnlyFans account, stunned fans with her celebration.
The 30-year-old bent her legs, placed her hands on her thighs and started twerking.
Reacting to Newman’s celebration, the BBC commentator said: “I’m not sure about that celebration.”
Reflecting on winning the bronze medal, Newman said: “I laugh because getting third is, I mean I’ve never got third, but it’s funny because you have to still wait and sit there and wait until the other girls are done.
“So, I’m so awkwardly standing there like, ‘What do I do? Do I celebrate? Do I kiss everyone? Do I cry?’ It was a really surreal moment and it was awesome.”

She continued: “I just feel like I’m very emotionally stable right now and just feel so honoured to be the first [women’s] pole vaulter to bring home an Olympic medal for Canada.”
Unfortunately for Team GB, Molly Caudery failed to qualify for the pole vault final.
The 24-year-old said: “It’s honestly heartbreaking. Not the experience I was hoping for and I am so sorry for everyone back home.
“I wish I could have done better, but I am going to try to learn from this and I will take everything I can from it.”
She added: “I felt great, I’m in the best shape of my life. I didn’t feel too nervous – I love a big crowd. I don’t know why, but it wasn’t my day.”
