A new billboard promoting a woman’s OnlyFans account started as a joke, until it grasped the attention of thousands of people in New Orleans.

It’s in Central City and towers over the neighborhood near the Caesars Superdome. The content creator’s username, “ArielleMyles88,” is written in bold, turquoise letters. But the star of the creative display is the woman behind it all, whose name is Meighan Baker.

Since she decided to purchase a Lamar Advertising billboard —that is also unintentionally near a church — Baker said she’s heard the good, the bad and everything in between.

Social media users have gone to comment sections and attacked her appearance. Fellow women in the sex industry have praised her. People from her hometown of Baton Rouge have criticized her career, while most in New Orleans have supported her.

The billboard was originally not meant to be taken seriously, though, despite what you might have seen on social media, Baker said.

“It started out as just a joke.”

Starting an OnlyFans

OnlyFans, a subscription service for sexual content and other entertainment, has been an online platform for years. It gained increased popularity during the height of the coronavirus pandemic.

While living in the French Quarter during the summer of 2021, Baker was a dancer at Rick’s Cabaret on Bourbon Street. She created an OnlyFans account once COVID-19 brought her job to a sudden halt.

Her main source of income since has been OnlyFans, but she also still picks up some dancing gigs at a club in Port Allen, less than an hour away from her home in Denham Springs. Baker’s boyfriend, Steven Gremillion, is her business partner.

“I couldn’t make the amount of money in a lifetime that some of the people on OnlyFans were making,” Gremillion said.

He quit his job after realizing the financial potential of OnlyFans and how it could support their kids for the rest of their lives. Baker has a 13-year-old daughter, and Gremillion also has two daughters and a son.

“[Our kids] could have anything they’ve ever asked for,” Gremillion said.

Now, the two business partners have expanded their audience with seven Facebook accounts, five Instagram accounts, at least six TikTok accounts and three or four YouTube channels. Baker said that the sexual content makes up just a small percentage of the work you have to do while juggling multiple platforms. She also uses OFTV — a non-explicit video platform created by OnlyFans — to share fishing content.

Bringing the billboard to life

Another OnlyFans content creator inspired Baker to invest in a billboard that openly showcases her account.

The woman was fired from her job at a nursing home after staff discovered that she was on OnlyFans. After hearing her story, Baker wanted to exhibit her account beyond the internet.

“That gives the boost to want to get out there, good or bad, in any way,” Baker said.

Now, the woman, who was not named, brings home around $250K a month from OnlyFans after getting fired, Gremillion added.

Another attention-grabbing advertisement in the New Orleans metro area also served as inspiration to Baker. A digital billboard in Kenner that was put on display to “welcome” Donald Trump to New Orleans in June featured the former president and Stormy Daniels together. After noticing the billboard, Baker knew that she wanted to create something similar.

There was no pushback when Baker pitched her idea to Lamar Advertising Company in New Orleans. One of the only requirements for the billboard was that the picture could not be “provocative.”

“It’s not really showing anything,” Baker said, “But it’s an attractive girl on a billboard, so nobody could complain about anything.”

Once the billboard went up on July 29, Baker’s OnlyFans subscriptions went from 90 to 200 members in less than two weeks. Her income has increased by 200% so far.

“As long as you put the work in, the money is there,” Baker said.

The billboard will be up for four weeks. Depending on its performance, Baker said that she has considered putting up other billboards in New Orleans.

Based on Gremillion’s research, Baker’s OnlyFans billboard is the first of its kind in the United States. A poster hanging on the side of a building in Australia is the only advertisement that comes relatively close it.
