Camila Giorgi made some pretty blunt comments on Instagram as the former Italian tennis star has shut down OnlyFans rumors and also ripped journalists as “worthless” amid reports that she fled Italy to escape the Italian tax authorities.
After a shock retirement from tennis that pretty much came out of the blue, there have been a lot of rumors about the reasons behind it but also about Giorgi’s next move. While some claimed that Giorgi – who was always passionate about fashion – was looking to become a lingerie model, some even claimed that the 32-year-old Italian may start her own OnlyFans page.
But during a Q&A session on Instagram, Giorgi strongly denied that she ever considered becoming a content creator on OnlyFans.
“Never ever,” Giorgi responded when asked about the OnlyFans rumors.
Shortly after Giorgi’s silent from tennis made all the headlines, Italian media dropped a bombshell that claimed that the Italian ended her pro tennis career and fled to the United States because the Italian tax authorities were going after her. At the time, it was reported that the 32-year-old had €464k in unpaid taxes.
Addressing that, the former world No. 26 pretty much thinks it is just “worthless journalists making fake news.”
“Unfortunately the worthless journalists make Fake News, and to get a few more clicks on their page they would sell their dignity. I have a lawyer following me, and if I had problems I wouldn’t have returned to Italy two weeks ago, and I will be back soon. Thank you for your love,” Giorgi said on Instagram.
Giorgi’s ex-landlord made some stunning allegations against her
After the rumors started to swirl around that Giorgi was facing legal issues over unpaid taxes, one of her former landlords came out with some damning accusations. According to the person who was renting Giorgi a house in Calenzano, Tuscany, not only that the Italian tennis star didn’t pay rent but her family also a furniture worth between €50-€100k.
“They made half of our furniture disappear. Persian rugs, fine furniture, even an antique half-ton table. We are talking about damage between 50 and 100 thousand euros,” the landlord told La Repubblica.
The landlord then accused the Giorgi family of “a hateful behavior” and also remarked that he is unsure how much she owes to Italy but is 100 percent sure how much she owes to him.
“I wrote to him that they must at least give us back our things, he responded in a contemptuous way saying that they were objects of little value,” the landlord said.
“A hateful behaviour, for those like me who have suffered economic but also emotional damage. I can’t know how much is true or how much Camila owes the State, but I know what he owes us.
“Those objects are part of my mother’s life and mine: I want them back, at least this much, given that we have lost hope due to the thousands and thousands of euros in back rent.”
What Giorgi said after her silent retirement made all the headlines
On May 8th, several tennis fans noticed that Giorgi suddenly showed up on ITIA’s list of retired players. After a player retires and appears on that list, that means they are no longer subjected to doping controls.
But since Giorgi played just 20 days earlier in Miami and there were no any signs of her contemplating retirement, many were left absolutely shocked by her move.
Then, the tax evasion reports started coming out in Italian media and it wasn’t a good look for Giorgi. And on May 11th, Giorgi broke her silence – she confirmed she was retired but also strongly rejected the accusations made against her.
“Please trust this Instagram for truthful information. To my lovely fans, I am happy to formally announce retirement from my tennis career. I am so grateful for your wonderful love and support for so many years,” Giorgi wrote in a message posted on her Instagram Story after the news of her sudden retirement from tennis.
“I cherish all the beautiful memories. There have been many inaccurate rumors about my future plans, so I look forward to providing more information about exciting opportunities ahead. It is a joy to share my life with you, and let’s continue this journey together. With much love, Camila.”
Before abruptly retiring, Giorgi appeared in six tournaments this year, with her last tournament being Miami, where she won her first-round match before losing to Iga Swiatek in the second round.
At the time of her retirement, Giorgi was just 3-6 in 2024.
