Just three weeks after proudly announcing their partnership with the 25-year-old adult star, Calstock FC have reversed its decision to go ahead with the sponsorship after facing backlash from the local community.

The team from Cornwall in the UK, which plays in the 15th league behind the Premier League, home to the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, and Tottenham, already had a new kit made up to mark the Bonnie Blue sponsorship.

Emblazoned with Bonnie Blue’s name on the front, and ‘Up The Bonnie Blue Bees’ on the back, the kit had already been soft-launched before the decision to call off the controversial sponsorship.

The club’s latest statement comes just weeks after they welcomed Bonnie Blue as their new sponsor on April 12. However, one of the team’s players, Ben Williams, reported that the move attracted “a lot of split opinion online,” with some of his married teammates getting “an earful” from their wives.

While the club had originally defended the move as simply “a kind gesture,” its reversal has forced it to launch a GoFundMe page to secure its future.

The GoFundMe page reads:

“We need funds in order to keep our longstanding adult village football club viable. We had secured a generous sponsor, but we have had to remove the kit she kindly bought us. A number of people said that they would happily contribute to the club to assist it in buying a replacement kit and securing its future financial viability (fees, insurance, rent, balls, and general running costs etc.), so here we are…”

It remains to be seen whether the pearl-clutching Calstock community decide to back their local football club after forcing the team to sever its ties with Bonnie Blue.
