In her new film, Materialists Dakota Johnson stars as the ultimate New York matchmaker. And while we know life and art are technically different, we did think she might’ve picked up a few tips. So, when we sat down to shoot ELLE UK’s cover story, we thought we’d ask Johnson to solve some dating dilemmas for us.
The conversation was far-reaching to say the least – from finding your boss on Tinder, to marriage proposals, OnlyFans and open relationships. And you can watch it all above in our – hilarious – video with the actor.
When Johnson was asked for her advice on what to do if you walk in on your boyfriend looking at OnlyFans models, the actor replied: ‘OnlyFans is the place where people go to watch people do weird things. Are OnlyFans models hot? Are they difficult to regular models?
‘Pedro Pascal [her Materialists co-star and friend] told me I should have an OnlyFans and that I could just like wiggle my toe and make money. Should I do that? I’m not the right person to ask for advice…’
And while Johnson did a great job with the challenges before her, she did share – after admitting in our interview that she’s never dated – that she might not be the best person to solve a Tinder dilemma.
‘What does it mean when you swipe right on somebody?’ she asks.
Johnson’s best advice though? ‘Grow up! That’s my answer to everyone for everything. Grow up!’
