The online world of sex work is vast and expansive, but did you know that there are adult creators out there making thousands upon thousands of dollars a month by being a professional online girlfriend? Meanwhile, I’m straight up doing that for free like a chump.

Alix Lynx is a 36-year-old OnlyFans star from the US who has been raking in the dough on the spicy platform since 2017 (before it had its big boom). She first started webcaming in 2012 and saw the sweet gig as a way to make “fun money”, she tells PEDESTRIAN.TV.

Now, Alix earns a whopping $150,000 a year by being a completely virtual girlfriend for a handful of high-paying clients. What on god’s green earth is an online girlfriend, I hear you ask? Let’s hear from the virtual GF herself!

“Some guys just want to get their rocks off, while others want to talk about their lives, what’s bothering them, their day-to-day stuff,” she told PEDESTRIAN.TV.

“I know their personal lives, details about their family, their friends, their pets, what city they live in, and what they do for work, to a degree. Some men pay me $100,000 USD (approx. $154,499.81 AUD) a year.

“That’s what I mean when I say ‘online girlfriend’, it’s more scenario based rather than a service.”

Her services range from sexting and sending raunchy photos and videos to dick ratings and nose measuring, as well as other custom content at the client’s request.

While having a one-sided online relationship might not tick everyone’s boxes, Alix says it’s the perfect fit for her clients who aren’t able to meet women in the real world. Some are busy businessmen who don’t have time to commit to an IRL girlfriend, others struggle socially, while many clients just don’t feel confident in their own skin.

“I can tell these guys are looking for a fun escape from their daily lives because they normally have high-powered, highly stressful careers,” she said.

“Sometimes I think about it, and I wonder if it has to do with the fact that a lot of men, traditionally, are encouraged not to share their feelings. They’re taught to be tough, to stay strong — and then where do those emotions go? You know? I wonder if that’s part of it. It’s just an observation I’ve made.

“I always say I’m like a vault. I create this safe, judgment-free space where you can come to just relax and take a break from reality.”

In addition to being a companion for men who need a friendly ear, Alix also acknowledges that her services as an online girlfriend come in handy to men who struggle with sex in person.

“It might be health conditions that physically make it hard or even impossible to have sex like most people do,” she said.

“Maybe they’re in a wheelchair, or they have barriers that get in the way like erectile dysfunction or cerebral palsy.”

She clarifies that 100K isn’t the going rate for her services, but that over the course of a year, she’s earned that much, just through daily interactions.

There are different tiers and packages for her services – there are clients who receive VIP treatment and more extensive access to her depending on how much they pay and how often they hit her up.

While the six-figure price tag may seem high for the online girlfriend experience, Alix says you get what you pay for.

“It’s kind of like choosing between the McDonald’s drive-thru or going to a top-tier steakhouse where you can customise your order and get a more elevated experience,” she shared.

“Or you can just get the same generic content everyone else is watching. I mean, not that it’s bad — I’m in a lot of that content too — but with this, you get something tailored, something that’s exactly the kind of interaction you’re after.”
