The rise of OnlyFans hasn’t been a quiet one, as more and more people are making accounts on the subscription-based platform to earn an extra buck, or a million.
People use the site as a way to fund their lives, with sex-fuelled stories of creators having people ‘line-up’ outside their hotel room for time in bed with them, garnering near £200,000 from the stunt.
One of the medal-winning Olympians in Paris also produced content on the 18+ platform, going viral for twerking after securing third place in the pole vault, which was Canada’s first medal in 112 years in the event, to be fair.

But the point is that the platform is getting more and more saturated, as the likes of celebrities have also ventured their way onto there, with Bella Thorne still topping the list of profitable creators in the past year.
However, some like Bhad Bhabie have been candid with their earnings, revealing just how much big names can make within just a few days.
To put the numbers into perspective, when an annual earnings report was posted by OnlyFans‘ parent company, Fenix International, people couldn’t believe just how profitable the company had become.
Taking off during the pandemic, the number of users in 2023 increased by 28% from the previous year to 305 million users. The number of creators’ accounts also saw a huge jump by 29% to 4.1 million accounts, with several breakout stars on the platform changing what was originally a side hustle into millions of pounds’ worth in earnings, according to Variety.
However, the kicker is that the amount fans paid to creators hit a record-breaking $6.6 billion (£5 billion) in 2023, a 19% increase from the already eye-watering amount of $5.5 billion (£4.19 billion) that was made in 2022, signalling the huge growth spurt the site has had since the pandemic.

But the $6.6 billion is made to look even more impressive when compared with the earnings of NBA players, with athletes in the league the highest paid in the world, on average.
Pro basketball players, combined, made $4.9 billion (£3.7 billion) in 2023 – this includes the likes of LeBron James, Steph Curry, Kevin Durant and more.
OnlyFans takes a 20% cut of creators’ profits though, so the full amounts paid don’t reach the creators, unfortunately for them.
Revenue also hit new heights in 2023, increasing from $217 million (£165 million) in one year to $1.3 billion (£990,000), with the company still boasting $678,000 (£516,000) in cash assets.
