Nicola Adams and her ex-girlfriend, OnlyFans star Ella Baig, called it quits last month after seven years together and welcoming their first son Taylor Nate into the world
Strictly Come Dancer star Nicola Adams and former girlfriend Ella Baig seemed to have it all before they split up last month. After meeting seven years ago, they soon became inseparable before welcoming their adorable son Taylor two years ago via IVF.
The happy family garnered a legion of loyal fans, who loved Nicola and Ella’s modern love story. However in March, the pair revealed that the fairy tale was over, saying their sole focus was on co-parenting their son. Nicola, 43, has now spoken out about why they split, admitting Ella’s lucrative gig with racy content site, OnlyFans, played a part. So, as the pair start their new lives apart, here’s a look back at their relationship and how some x-rated snaps sadly led to their split…
Love at first sight after meeting on a night out
Four years ago, the loved-up couple gushed about first laying eyes on each during a night out. At that point, Ella, 27, hadn’t ventured into the world of OnlyFans and was working as a make-up artist and blogger.
Lifting the lid on how they met, the pair explained they clicked instantly. Speaking to the Loose Women ladies, Ella said: “We actually just met on a night out”. Nicola added: “I was at a birthday party and you were just coming back from a wedding.”
The panel then asked if it was “love at first sight”, which left the two of them giggling. “It was definitely something along those lines,” Ella answered with a huge grin on her face.
Nicola later revealed the couple had faced a barrage of abuse online over their relationship, as she took to social media with Ella revealing all the vile names trolls had called them.
Saying the pair were strong enough to cope with the trolling, but conceded others wouldn’t be, she said: “Normally I just bat comments away and I won’t bother responding to them, I’ll just basically block them. But I know for some people, they’re not as strong willed as I am or as Ella is.”
Welcoming their son, Taylor Nate
Two years ago, Nicola and Ella welcomed son, Taylor Nate, who was born via IVF using one of former Strictly star Nicola’s eggs.
The former couple first decided they were going to try to start a family in 2020, two years after they met on a night out. At the time, they began IVF treatment and used an egg fertilised via a sperm donor.
Ella carried their child before giving birth a month before her due date. Following Taylor’s birth, Nicola spoke to Vogue magazine about how there was a lack of parenting books for same-sex families. She said: “The information is out there but we really had to dig for it.”
Ella also shared an insight into her pregnancy when speaking to Hello! magazine. She recalled the moment her waters broke and shouted at her partner to ring the hospital.
“This is the point when everything feels worth the chaos and the long process of IVF. It’s the one outcome you’re waiting for,” she said.
Marriage rumours
The couple were forced to deny they had secretly tied the knot in November 2022 after rumours started to swirl at the time that they’d got hitched in Mexico.
The boxing champion managed to hoodwink her online followers after posting a rather formal photo of herself, dressed in a sharp suit at a wedding, standing in front of a huge flower garland with Ella and Taylor – sending fans into a frenzy.
Indeed, the pair were at a wedding – but it wasn’t theirs. The caption had read: “Perfect Together,” before Nicola wrote under the image: “I have you, you have me.”
Couples therapy to try and save the relationship
Sadly, after publishing their sun-kissed snaps, Ella and Nicola reportedly ended up in couples therapy as their relationship unravelled.
Sources close to the couple claimed they did everything they could to make their relationship work for the sake of their young son.
Revealing they went to couple’s therapy to try and save their family, they told The Sun: “They really tried to make it work, especially for the sake of their son, and even went to couples therapy, but came to the conclusion that they were better off separating.”
Nicola blames Ella’s OnlyFans gig for split
Neither Nicola or Ella commented on why they decided to call it a day, but now the Strictly Come Dancing star has admitted that her ex’s raunchy career as an OnlyFans model played its part in their breakup – even though they reportedly went to couple’s therapy to try and save their relationship.
Speaking to the outletabout the challenges Ella working with the X-rated sharing site presented, Nicola said: “I have always been incredibly supportive of Ella’s career and the choices she has made, including her work on OnlyFans.”
She added: “However, as much as I respect what she does, I can’t deny that it has had an impact on our relationship.”
