Ex-WNBA star Liz Cambage is making a slam dunk in the digital world, raking in over $1.5million a year through her OnlyFans account, dwarfing the $590K she earned during her five-season career with the league.
Cambage, who launched her OnlyFans in late 2021 following her departure from the Las Vegas Aces, has since become a powerhouse on the subscription-based platform, making over 140 posts.
Despite not updating since May 9, 2024, the Mail reports that her earnings remain around the $1.5million mark annually.
Cambage’s social media presence has shifted focus from promoting her OnlyFans to spotlighting her role as co-founder of Australian wellness brand Vitadrop. In 2021, Cambage shared her initial reservations about joining OnlyFans but ultimately found support from her inner circle.
“I was so scared to actually do it,” she confessed. “But I had my friends and family push me and say, ‘Don’t worry what anyone says. People are either going to love you or hate you regardless.'”
Her decision to go public with her account garnered significant online buzz, resulting in 340 comments, 2.1k retweets, 2.1k likes, and nearly 600 bookmarks on X.
Beyond her success on OnlyFans, Cambage is represented by IMG Models, gracing campaigns for global brands like Savage x Fenty and Adidas.
She made a splash in Playboy’s Nov. 2023 issue, speaking candidly about nudity and body positivity: “My body is powerful. I’m so proud of my six-foot-eight body and everything I can do with it,” Cambage confided to the magazine.
Cambage has faced scrutiny over her basketball career due to various controversies. In 2022, she faced serious allegations of racially taunting Nigerian players, reportedly telling them to “Go back to your third-world country.”
Although Cambage refuted the claims in an open letter, she received considerable criticism from the Nigerian players and media outlets.
The Australian basketball star had a tumultuous start in the WNBA when she showed reluctance to join the Tulsa Shock after they drafted her second overall in 2011.
Following periods playing in China and Australia, Cambage re-entered the WNBA in 2018 with the Dallas Wings, but soon demanded a trade, dissatisfied with the pay and stating bluntly: “The WNBA doesn’t pay my bills.”
Cambage’s spells with the Las Vegas Aces and the Los Angeles Sparks were marred by disputes, including reported tensions in Los Angeles regarding ball-sharing and jersey numbers leading to her 2022 exit from the team.
Post-WNBA, she ventured into the Israeli basketball league and now showcases her talents with Sichuan Yuanda in Asia.
The towering 6-foot-9 Australian basketball player has inked a $1 million (£790,000) deal with the franchise. Meanwhile, WNBA star and Wings guard Arike Ogunbowale commands the highest salary in the WNBA at $241,984 (£191,000).
