Megan Thee Stallion Files Temporary Restraining Order

Last year, the legal saga between Megan and Tory Lanez (real name Daystar Peterson) captivated fans, especially after Lanez responded to Megan’s request for a temporary restraining order (TRO). The filing comes after Megan accused Lanez of continued harassment from prison through social media and third parties.
In her initial request, Megan alleged, “Despite being sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting Ms. Pete, Mr. Peterson continues to subject her to repeated trauma and revictimization.” The filing further claimed that the “continued harassment” has caused her “severe emotional distress and reputational harm.”
Megan’s legal team asserted that Lanez has been weaponizing his supporters to attack her character and integrity, stating, “Mr. Peterson is fully aware of the impact of the psychological warfare he has waged against Ms. Pete, yet he continues to deputize his supporters to attack Ms. Pete’s character and integrity.”
Tory Lanez Responds To Restraining Order
On December 24, Lanez filed a motion in the Superior Court of California in Los Angeles County, challenging Megan’s TRO request. His legal team argued that Megan’s filing was “a frivolous request for civil harassment restraining order against Daystar Peterson, who has had zero direct contact with Ms. Pete.”

Lanez’s legal response highlighted California Code of Civil Procedure § 527.8, which, according to his team, prohibits courts from issuing restraining orders that restrict constitutionally protected speech. The motion stated, “When a celebrity with millions of dollars and backed by a large corporation disagrees with free speech or opinions, they weaponize the justice system, failing to understand that they are public figures, who voluntarily catapulted themselves into the limelight, unable to deal with the controversy and public opinions.”
The motion further argued that instead of engaging with or rebutting public commentary, Megan had chosen to “succumb to the current trend of using the legal system in an attempt to cancel those opinions she disagrees with.”
