Netizens Ask Samay Raina To ‘Start OnlyFans’ After His Ad Revenue Comment On Deepika Padukone’s Depression Joke Backlash

Samay Raina is currently facing the heat for a joke on Deepika Padukone’s struggle with depression on his YouTube show India’s Got Latent. After a woman contestant named Banti Banerjee cracked the joke saying ‘Deepika Padukone also became a mother recently, right? Great! Now she knows what depression really looks like’ in front of Samay, Tanmay Bhatt, and Raghu Ram, netizens took to social media to express their displeasure.

Several people took to various platforms such as Twitter and Reddit to call out Samay and others for joking about mental health. Post the heavy backlash, Samay decided to revert in his trademark style.

On his Instagram Stories, Samay shared a screenshot of a notification that read, “Comedian’s joke on Deepika’s depression sparks outrage,” and wrote, “To everyone who is outraging on Twitter, one request: Could you please outrage in my YouTube comment section so I get some ad revenue from the traction, at least.” He also shared the YouTube link to the controversial episode of India’s Got Latent. Samay tweeted the same thing as well.

Samay’s reply to the backlash has not gone down well with netizens. While one X user wrote, “Start an onlyfan if you need money so much,” another penned, “Too poor…to get attention using disease…what do we expect from Indian men! Pathetic and very dirty…go to hell.”

“It takes courage to be on a panel where depression is treated as something trivial, but it takes stupidity to come here and whitewash it with a low-grade comment, only for some 10-year-old to later call it dark humour,” read another tweet.

India’s Got Latent has gained immense popularity on YouTube and is one of the most talked about shows right now.
