An OnlyFans model and Olympian has explained the real reason behind her unusual celebration to her successful pole vault.

Team Canada’s Alysha Newman broke the national record yesterday (7 August) after clearing a 4.85 metres in the final.

The 30-year-old Olympian received a whole load of praise for the unexpected way she celebrated winning her bronze medal in the Stade de France.

After her jump, Alysha could be seen joyfully running off the pitch.

However, at one point, she appeared to hold her leg as if she’d injured herself but she then quickly broke out into what many people are calling a ‘twerk’ before clapping and exiting the area.

While some took some major issues with Alysha’s light-hearted means of celebrating, many others rushed to social media to share their praise.

One X user penned: “That was her moment and she seized it.”

“Lmaooooo nicely done,” chirped a second, while a third chimed in: “She’s having the best time of her life! Let her do cartwheels.”

A fourth piped up: “The vibes at the Olympics have been really elite this year.”

Another echoed: “Lol that was amazing.”

And a final X user gushed: “What an amazing look of joy and accomplishment on her face as she realises her triumph!!! Wonderful, congratulations!”

Alysha’s performance makes her the first ever Canadian woman to win an Olympic medal in the pole vault, as well as the only person from the country since 1912.

Not too shabby at all!

Since then, Alysha has shared the real reason behind her celebration, which saw her momentarily grab her leg for a bit before she started ‘twerking’.

Speaking to TSN, she said: “I’m so excited. I laugh because getting third is, I mean I’ve never got third, but it’s funny because you have to still wait and sit there and wait until the other girls are done.

“So I’m so awkwardly standing there like, “What do I do? Do I celebrate? Do I kiss everyone? Do I cry?”

“It was a really surreal moment and it was awesome,” she continued. “I just feel like I’m very emotionally stable right now and just feel so honoured to be the first (women’s) pole vaulter to bring home an Olympic medal for Canada.”

Alysha then added in a video shared on her Instagram Story, where she could be heard talking more about the moment: “That’s why I did that celebration, because it’s a representation of like, ‘I’m injured constantly but I never give up, I never stop’.”
