Fenix International Ltd., the company behind OnlyFans, dupes consumers into believing they are paying to personally interact with the platform’s creators when those interactions are commonly outsourced to management agencies, a proposed class action said.
OnlyFans markets itself as a platform that allows subscribers, called fans, and content creators to develop personal relationships. That promise “permeates OnlyFans’ marketing, account creation, and every Fan’s OnlyFans experience,” according to the complaint filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. “This representation defines OnlyFans’ brand” and is the platform’s “primary allure,” the complaint added.
