Police open human trafficking case after Ukrainian model found in Dubai hospital

Ukrainian authorities have launched a human trafficking investigation following the discovery of an OnlyFans model, Maria Kovalchuk, 20, severely injured in Dubai after she had been missing for over a week.

Kovalchuk was found on a roadside and diagnosed with a broken spine and limbs. Friends of the model voiced concerns that she may have been abducted into sexual slavery before being abandoned, beaten and bloodied by her captors.

Dubai police attributed her injuries to a fall from a height at a construction site. The model is currently hospitalized in Dubai, and her life is no longer in danger.

After being discovered in a critical condition without her passport, Kovalchuk underwent several surgeries and is now reported as “stable” by her doctors. Ukrainian police announced on Saturday that they had initiated a human trafficking case.

The relevant article of the criminal code stipulates penalties for human trafficking, including recruiting, transporting or concealing victims for exploitation purposes. A “pre-trial investigation” is ongoing, but no further details about the case, initiated by the main investigation department of Ukraine’s national police in the Lviv region, have been released.

No suspects have been identified yet. The case follows the involvement of Ukraine’s consul in Dubai, Oleksiy Lyashenko, who assisted in locating the missing woman.

“The consulate of Ukraine in Dubai said that Maria’s mother asked them to find her daughter,” reported Hromadske media outlet. “The staff of the consulate found the girl in one of the city’s medical institutions.”

Overwhelmed with concern, Maria’s mother Anna, who journeyed from Norway to be by her side, shared heartening news about Maria’s condition: “She is getting medical treatment and everything will be all right,” she confidently asserted. Subsequent updates revealed, “We are still getting treatment.”

Amidst tumultuous times, media reports surfaced suggesting Maria had informed her mother that she’d been staying with two men and had called off a scheduled tour to Thailand set for March 11.

Adding to the distressing turn of events, Maria was allegedly linked with two individuals “who introduced themselves as representatives of the modelling business” Rising fears were fueled by speculations that she had taken part in an infamous Porta Potty event, where, it is whispered, female social stars may receive hefty compensation to endure severe and humiliating maltreatment to satisfy the depraved cravings of affluent men.

Prominent Russian attorney Katya Gordon issued a grave statement: “Model Maria Kovalchuk was found dying on the side of the road in the UAE after a party with Arab sheikhs. She is currently in critical condition in hospital.”

Previously, Anna conveyed profound concern regarding her daughter’s puzzling vanishing act, stating: “There is an assumption that she went to a party. But the promoter who organised these parties did not see her.

“Maria was [eventually] found in a hospital in serious condition. She has no documents, no phone, nothing. She underwent three [now four] operations. And she cannot speak.”

Several reports have indicated that the friends and family of Maria do not accept the official explanation that she stumbled onto a construction site alone and fell. Her companion, 31-year-old Russian model Angelina Doroshenkova, expressed the collective optimism and appreciation, stating: “We all hope for the best and are very grateful to everyone who took part in the search and helped with information.”
