Authorities say the attack may have been motivated by Siragusa’s social media post revealing her cryptocurrency earnings, which totaled more than $20 million, according to Forbes.
The attack
The home invasion occurred on Sunday, March 2, at 10:51 p.m. in Houston. According to the Houston Police Department, three armed robbers demanded access to Siragusa’s cryptocurrency account.
When they were unable to access it, they pistol-whipped her.

Siragusa’s husband, who had seen her social media posts and heard the commotion, was armed and waiting in another part of the home. When the intruders approached, he fired shots, hitting one of them. Investigators found a trail of blood at the scene.
Surveillance footage later captured the suspects fleeing, with one of them shouting, “I got hit, I got shot.”

Siragusa was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Tracking down the suspects
The investigation led detectives to an apartment complex after surveillance video and a report of a stolen vehicle provided key leads. A resident reported stolen license plates from two vehicles, and while canvassing the area, investigators discovered school paperwork with the name “Demarcus Morri.” The last name was partially cut off due to damage.
Further evidence indicated a dark-colored Toyota, the same vehicle used during the home invasion, had recently been in the area. On March 5, license plate cameras captured the vehicle in traffic.
On March 6, a trooper stopped the Toyota in Galveston County for failing to use a turn signal. The driver, Salazar-Guerrero, was arrested for not having a license. During a search of the vehicle, troopers found a large bloodstain in the rear passenger seat, partially cleaned with cleaning products still inside.
While being questioned, Salazar-Guerrero admitted to being the getaway driver during the home invasion. He stated that his friend, Campbell, coordinated the crime and that he did not know the other two suspects. He also admitted to agreeing to drive in exchange for stolen goods and confirmed dropping off one of the suspects at a hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound.
Campbell also confessed to participating in the heist and dropping off his injured friend at Memorial Hermann in the Texas Medical Center, according to records.
All three suspects were booked into the Harris County Jail. Bond was set at $200,000 for Campbell, $150,000 for Morris, and $100,000 for Salazar-Guerrero.
Salazar-Guerrero has since been released on bond.
