Elaina St. James’s life changed in 2021. At the time she was 53 years old, a single mom, licking her wounds after a rough long-distance break up, and working a menial, dead-end office job that left her unfulfilled and her bank account virtually empty. That’s when she read an article about a pretty mom who was making over six figures a month posting racy photos on OnlyFans, an online subscription-based site that features adult content creators.

St. James was intrigued and couldn’t stop thinking about what she read. She said, “I kept thinking there had to be a catch — I could take racy photos from the safety and comfort of my own home, control my schedule and make more money than I was making from my 40-plus-hour-a-week job? How could that be possible?”

So she continued to research OnlyFans and learn how it worked. She spent weeks staying up late after working her office job and caring for her preteen son and her ailing mother so she could find out exactly how these women did it. And she was shocked when she realized that many of these women looked like her. They didn’t have a perfect figure or rock-hard abs. They looked like regular women.

St. James said, “For so many years, I had been told by the media that the ideal woman was 25 years old, fit, trim and “perky,” and that the further you got from that ideal, the less desirable you were. But I found women celebrating their unconventional curves, lumps, dimples ― you name it ― and all shapes and sizes were being shown and admired! I even saw some women my age and older. It was a revelation! I thought, Maybe I can do this. Maybe this is my chance to change everything.”

She was so motivated that she decided to stop researching and start doing. She created a strategy and plan to launch her OnlyFans account alongside a more PG-13 Instagram account. The single mom wasn’t much of a social media user before, so she was learning as she went. With no marketing background or experience in adult content, she relied on her research and her instincts.

And it worked.

Her Instagram account grew to over 10,000 followers quickly, and her OnlyFans followed suit. Between her monthly subscribers and custom requests, she made just under $2,000 her first month — nearly as much as her full-time office job paid. Within a few more months, she was able to quit that job and become a full-time OnlyFans creator making more than $10,000 a month.

Now, she’s living the life she dreamed of back in 2021 when she read that first article. She is a 50+ year old single mom who has the money and flexible schedule to not just support her elderly mother and her preteen son, but actually spend time with them.

Plus she has created a community around women embracing their age and their looks, and has been featured in the U.K.’s best-selling women’s magazine, news articles, and podcasts. Her friends and family are (mostly) supportive of her career, and she’s grateful for the life she has built for herself thanks to Onlyfans.
