BLANDFORD, Nova Scotia (CBC) – A woman in Canada says her dog sitter filmed explicit videos for OnlyFans in her house without permission.
Homeowner Amanda Joudrey LeBlanc said interior shots of her home ended up on OnlyFans after her dog sitter performed sexual acts in her bathroom and posted the videos.
LeBlanc said she noticed her “very distinct” bathroom tiles on an advertisement for OnlyFans she saw on social media.
She confirmed it was her house by paying for a month’s subscription to her dog sitter’s OnlyFans account to access the videos.
“I was so shocked by it… I am still so shocked by it to be honest with you,” LeBlanc said.
She said it felt “violating” to know her pet sitter had filmed sexual content in the home.
“This person was paid to do a job in people’s homes that we trust them to be in. And we trust them to respect their homes and trust them to respect our privacy, etcetera. And so it just feels kind of, for lack of a better term, violating,” LeBlanc said.
The homeowner asked the pet sitter to take down the videos that were filmed at her home, and the dog sitter obliged.
Nova Scotia police could not say whether a crime was committed, since the incident was not reported to police.
Legal expert Wayne MacKay, professor emeritus at Dalhousie University, said the incident is likely not a criminal matter, but it raises concerns about privacy.
“One of the terms they use in the court cases that talk about this sort of privacy is ‘intrusion into seclusion.’ And your home is your private space, your ultimate private space, your castle. And so, I think that clearly is recognized as a private zone,” MacKay said.
Lisa Dawn Hamilton, a professor and human sexuality researcher at Mount Allison University, said the issue in this case is the lack of consent from the homeowner.
“If this was a film shoot or a porn shoot for any other company, it would involve contracts and money exchanged… and that clearly didn’t happen in this case,” Hamilton said.
For the homeowner, she said it’s about a violation of trust.
“You do you. Everyone can do whatever they want. I don’t care. People have to make money. People like to do that. Good on them. That’s on you. I just don’t want to done in my home,” LeBlanc said.
The dog sitter did not respond to requests for an interview.
An OnlyFans employee said they would look into the situation if it was reported, but they could not say whether any company policies were breached.
