YouTuber Zara Dar who dropped out of PhD to become OnlyFans model fulltime clarifies: With all due respect, I am not Pakistani
Along with her newfound fame, Zara also became a target of much misinformation regarding her transition from academia to adult content creation.

Zara Dar, a former PhD student who gained notoriety for quitting her studies to pursue a career as an OnlyFans model, has clarified that she is not Pakistani. YouTuber Zara Dar shot to overnight fame after a video of her explaining why she left her PhD to pursue a career as a full-time adult content creator went viral on X.
Dar shared a video on her YouTube channel in which she explained all her reasons as to why she took the decision of full time content creator for OnlyFans. “My PhD was in Engineering. Dropping out of my PhD was my choice. Please watch the full video if you would like to know all the reasons. Money was only part of the story—the state of academia today was the primary reason: https://youtu.be/_uEG0H4RXcA?” said Dar in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Along with this, Dar also addressed some misinformation circulating about her background. Dar, who rose to prominence after a video detailing her career switch went viral on X, clarified that she is not Pakistani. The video, shared by user Sensei Kraken Zero, garnered over 12 million views, sparking numerous discussions and, unfortunately, some inaccuracies about her origin.
“With all due respect, I am not Pakistani. I believe some people are confusing me with a beautiful influencer named “Zara Dar” @ZaraNaeemDar. I am American, born and raised, with a mixed background: American, Persian, Southern European, Middle Eastern, and Indian,” posted Dar on X.

After I made a video about why I dropped out of my PhD to pursue OnlyFans full-time, I have been seeing a lot of misinformation on social media, whether intentional or not. I have not given any exclusive interviews yet. So, I would like to clarify the facts here.
A thread
My PhD was in Engineering. Dropping out of my PhD was my choice. Please watch the full video if you would like to know all the reasons. Money was only part of the story—the state of academia today was the primary reason:https://youtu.be/_uEG0H4RXcA?
As I mentioned in my video, I was doing OnlyFans while pursuing my PhD which started about 2 years. Now I am just doing it full time.
I will continue teaching STEM-related content on my YouTube channel. Pursuing OnlyFans full-time has given me the freedom to learn and share new content.
My full last name is Darcy which I shortened to Darz/Dar.
With all due respect, I am not Pakistani. I believe some people are confusing me with a beautiful influencer named “Zara Dar” @ZaraNaeemDar. I am American, born and raised, with a mixed background: American, Persian, Southern European, Middle Eastern, and Indian.
I never used another name on any social media, and this is my only X account. Unfortunately, I have seen many people sharing deepfake content of me, and some have mistakenly believed them. I addressed this issue in a detailed blog post two years ago:
I do not endorse any products made using my name. Shortly after I went viral, someone created a meme coin after my name and using my photo as their profile picture on X. I am not associated with these individuals.
