Zara Dar shared that while her videos gained more views on YouTube, they earned much higher ad revenue on Pornhub.
Zara Dar, a former PhD student who transitioned into an adult content creator on OnlyFans, has revealed that she now shares her STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) videos on adult platforms and YouTube. In a post on X (formerly Twitter) and LinkedIn, Dar shared that while her videos gained more views on YouTube, they earned much higher ad revenue on Pornhub.
“People may not know this, but I publish the same STEM videos on both YouTube and Pornhub. While YouTube generally generates more views, the ad revenue per 1 million views on Pornhub is nearly three times higher,” Dar shared in her post.

She backed her claim with screenshots of one of her videos on neural network which she had uploaded on both platforms four months ago. On YouTube, the video had nearly a million views, while it had 32,000 views on Pornhub. Despite the difference in viewership, Dar claimed she earned $1,000 (approximately Rs 86,500) per million views on Pornhub compared to just $340 (around Rs 29,500) on YouTube.
Her post quickly went viral, sparking a wide range of reactions from social media users.
One user questioned, “Wait. Why would anyone watch Machine Learning videos in PornHub or OnlyFans?”
Another shared, “Who knew STEM could thrive on all platforms? Turns out, adulting is maximising ad revenue—whether it’s algorithms or anatomy lessons.”
However, Dar’s post about the income difference between YouTube and Pornhub had unexpected consequences as her LinkedIn account was banned.
“I shared the same post on X and LinkedIn comparing the ad revenue I typically earn per view on YouTube versus Pornhub, where I upload my STEM videos. While the post went semi-viral on LinkedIn with many Top Voices reaching out to me, my account was unexpectedly blocked without prior notice!” she explained.

Zara Dar drew significant attention last month after revealing her decision to leave her PhD program and pursue a full-time career on OnlyFans as an adult content creator. She shared the story behind this bold choice in a YouTube video titled “PhD dropout to OnlyFans model.”
In the video, Dar spoke about her experience, saying, “I’ve cried so much over this decision to quit my PhD you know because it’s a stressful decision not that I’m particularly sad about it.” She described the career switch as a “gamble.”
Although she started OnlyFans as a side hustle while pursuing her PhD, the platform brought her remarkable financial success. “I’ve been able to make over a million dollars,” she revealed.
“With that I helped my family pay off their mortgage, I bought myself a car and thankfully, I avoided taking out any student loans. Now, I have an Investment Portfolio and I’m planning on buying my own house soon,” Dar added.
