Abella Danger and Luna Star sat down to talk about the adult industry, and the new kids didn’t come out of it looking good. According to Barstool Sports‘ Hubbs, Danger doesn’t think today’s performers would have survived a single day in her era, and she believes the love for the work has given way to chasing money.

What was said on the podcast

The clip that set this off came from The Abella Show, Danger’s podcast. According to BlackSportsOnline‘s Robert Littal, the two veterans described the earlier days of the business as stacked with “sex demons,” argued that performers once had to genuinely love sex to make it, and said many newer creators lean on TikToks and minimal effort for bigger paydays and more visibility while riding the coattails of the stars who came before them.

Luna Star didn’t soften it. “This new generation of performers like honestly f—king suck,” she said, in a line quoted by both outlets. Another line from the clip, “I’m not impressed by any of these h—es,” spread just as fast. According to TotalProSports‘ Darrelle Lincoln, that one came from Danger, while BlackSportsOnline credits it to Luna Star.

Willow Ryder fires back

It didn’t take long for one of the newer names to answer. Willow Ryder, who entered the industry around 2022, went after Danger directly on X on Thursday.

“If @Abella_Danger really wants to go there .. then fine! Everyone has an opinion!” Ryder wrote. “Mine is after I saw this, I watched her scenes & there is absolutely nothing special after her performance! Shes as stiff as a board and holy cow I can’t wait to claim that best ass title.”

That last jab was aimed at Danger’s long run of fan-voted awards for her figure. BlackSportsOnline reports Ryder’s post quickly pulled in thousands of likes and hundreds of replies and quotes, with fans debating “prime Abella” versus today’s performers and comparing the spat to big celebrity feuds. Danger reposted coverage of the comments with a shrug emoji, but as of Friday evening she hadn’t responded to Ryder directly.

Two résumés, two eras

Danger debuted in 2014, won AVN’s Best New Starlet in 2016 and picked up a Best Star Showcase award in 2017, along with a string of fan-voted honors. She has mostly stepped back from on-camera work in recent years, though she still has more than 2 million followers on X. She’s also back in school studying philosophy and classical studies, with plans for law school, and she’s become a familiar face at college football games.

Ryder has moved fast by comparison. According to BlackSportsOnline, she has more than 300 credits, became Ricky’s Room’s first female contract star, and has more than 1 million followers on X. TotalProSports notes she was nominated for Best New Starlet at the 2024 AVN Awards and won a Pornhub Award in 2025.

The OnlyFans factor

Underneath the trash talk is a real shift in how the business works. Barstool’s Hubbs floated OnlyFans as part of the reason, arguing that creators now chase subscribers and volume over quality, and that anyone with a phone can call themselves a porn star.

Danger has made a version of that point before, just with less heat. In a 2025 interview, according to XBIZ‘s Jeff Dana, she said that when she started, “Everyone was so happy to be there, even though we were getting paid absolutely nothing.” Today, she said, “There’s never been a better time to be a porn star,” adding that “You can do close to nothing and still get paid a shit ton of money!”

The takeaway

Every industry has its “back in my day” argument, and adult entertainment is having one right now. The studio era built stars through scenes and awards. The creator era builds them through subscriptions, social clips and direct fan money. Danger and Luna Star see a drop in passion. Ryder sees veterans guarding a title. Fans get a feud, and the market will decide which model wins.
