Pole vaulter Alysha Newman celebrated her bronze at the 2024 Olympics with an R-rated gestured that stunned fans inside the Stade de France in Paris.

Australia’s Nina Kennedy won gold and USA’s Katie Moon secured silver while Canada’s Newman took home bronze following her score of 4.85m.

Newman cleared the same height as Moon, but the latter missed fewer attempts to bag silver.

After clearing 4.85m in a hotly contested final on Wednesday, Newman, who owns an OnlyFans account, sparked controversy with her celebration.

After breaking her national record, the Canadian star wheeled away in celebration by popping down into a squatting position before twerking.

Speaking after the event, the 30-year-old said: “I laugh because getting third is, I mean I’ve never got third, but it’s funny because you have to still wait and sit there and wait until the other girls are done.

“So, I’m so awkwardly standing there like, ‘What do I do? Do I celebrate? Do I kiss everyone? Do I cry?’

“It was a really surreal moment and it was awesome.”

She added: “I just feel like I’m very emotionally stable right now and just feel so honoured to be the first [women’s] pole vaulter to bring home an Olympic medal for Canada.”

It might not be to everyone’s taste but props on Newman for celebrating her Olympic medal with a light-hearted gesture.

Speaking in 2022, the athlete explained her reasoning behind becoming an OnlyFans model.

“Whether I liked it or not, I was sexualised in the sport naturally by what I wear, and my beauty,” she said.

“If I showed up in full leggings and a sports bra that covered my stomach, people would still sexualise me. I mean, it just never stops.

“When I decided to launch OnlyFans, it was really important for me to be a part of something I could control.”
